Armed with thorns / prickles.  Large foliage.  5 to 7 leaflets.

Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 8b.  Prune after flowering is finished.

Notes:
The correct name is Maître-École (a quarter in Angers, where Coquereau lived), and not Maître d'École (schoolmaster).
