Origin:
Bred by Charles Mallerin (France, before 1934).
Introduced in United States by Conard-Pyle (Star Roses) in 1934 as 'Rouge Mallerin'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1936 as 'Rouge Mallerin'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Crimson - scarlet.  Strong, clove, damask, rose fragrance.  Medium, double (17-25 petals), high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Compact, upright, well-branched.  Light green, leathery foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Vigorous.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
