Origin:
Discovered by R. Mack & Son (United Kingdom, 1887).
Introduced in Australia by C. F. Newman and Sons - Adelaide in 1894 as 'Sir Rowland Hill'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Dark purple to dark red, dark brown shading, ages to lighter .  Moderate, sweet fragrance.  Very large, full (26-40 petals), scalloped bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Habit:
Upright.  Large, glossy foliage.  

Height: up to 39" (up to 100cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to rust .
