Origin:
Bred by George Paul (1841-1921) (United Kingdom, 1876).
Introduced in Australia by C. F. Newman and Sons - Adelaide in 1894 as 'Sultan of Zanzibar'.

Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Dark brown, scarlet outer petals.  Moderate fragrance.  Medium, double (17-25 petals), globular bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
