My house as seen with roses at the end of June 2009. The house which is more than 200 years old and typical of the area has the traditional white colour and appearance of thousands of old houses along the southern coast of Norway. And what could possibly become a dear old stormridden house like this more than lots of roses. I think it deserves that. There should also be a few clematises there, for the moment only small and without flowers; and a few still invisible hollyhocks at each side of the entrance. Roses to be seen are "Coral Dawn, F.J. Grootendors,Louise Odier, Rosenresli,Felicia, Mainaufeuer, Charles Austin and perhaps a few red roses of Santana and Sympathie in the background. The blue flowers are Lavenders. The two Fairies by the entrance are still not in bloom.

This photo is taken in May 2009 and shows the part of my garden on the other side of the village road with what my neighbour likes to call "my basic position". And yes, I do favour this spot very much. One of my cherry trees up and died on me recenly which made me quite sad as it had this typical delightfully warped and bent over windridden shape of so many trees around here. However,on the bright side it left me with a favourite spot to relax and enjoy a sunny day. In the early spring, this part of the garden is filled with hundreds and hundreds of flowering crocuses, Galanthus and later Scillas, Daffodils and a variety of Bluebells and numerous other bulb plants. It is quite a sight. In the photo only Dicentra Eximia called Småhjerter(Little Hearts) in Norwegian, and Cherry Blossoms are visibly in bloom. The original Rugosas grow in this part of the garden. This year I have planted the ramblers "Venusta Pendula" and "Aksel Olsen" here up two fruit trees, hoping for a good result eventually.
