Bred by Percival Thomas James (Canada, before 1960).
Introduced in United States by Wayside Gardens in 1965 as 'Mrs. P.T. James'.
Class:
Early Large Flowered.  
Bloom:
Violet, yellow anthers.  Average diameter 7".  Double, overlapping, veined bloom form.  Early summer to early autumn.  
Habit:

Height: 6' to 8' (185 to 245cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Plant in sun or partial shade.  It blooms on the previous year's growth, so resist the urge to prune it in early spring.
