Discovered by Unknown in China (China, 1818). Discovered by Unknown(Japan) (Japan, 1818). Discovered by Unknown(Korea) (Korea, South, 1818). Discovered by Unknown(Taiwan) (Taiwan, 1818).
Class:
Group 3, Late Small Flowered.  
Bloom:
White.  Strong, hawthorn fragrance.  4 petals.  Average diameter 15".  Single, star-shaped bloom form.  Late summer to midautumn.  
Habit:
Height of up to 30' (up to 915 cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 5b through 9b.  Best in a sunny location.  Needs a warm, frost-free situation.  Plant in soil that drains well.  This plant blooms on the current season's growth.  In early spring, cut back to just above the lowest set of healthy buds.
