'Gloria Mundi'   Shorter  Orange  vermilion    Remontant  P2    H1
From  'Superb' came this sport, introduced in 1929. It was a wonder of the rose world, the first of the orange vermilion colours, which were later to become so common in the Floribundas and Hybrid  Teas. The Dutch  salesmen wore a single little flower in their buttonholes, and filled their order books on the strength of it. De Ruiter discovered  it, and similar colours followed in the next few years. 'Paul Crampel' came from  Kersbergen in 1930, the name borrowed from a vivid and popular pelargonium much  used for bedding; and Gloire du Midi', a sport from 'Gloria Mundl , from De Ruiter  in 1932.......The wonderful colours of 'Golden Salmon'  and 'Gloria Mundi' were no help to breeders at all. These sports were of the kind where only the exterior tissue changed; the  interior tissue, including the sexual system, behaved as if the sports had not occurred.   A possible exception  to this is  'Miss Edith Cavell', one  of the ancestors of 'Baby Chateau', through which the pelargonium colours eventually came to modern roses.

Magazine  (Jun 1948)  Page(s) 2. trimester, p. 14-15.

D'autres familles moins compliquées de sports dans la classe des vrais polyanthas sont :
1o Le cramoisi double Superba avec ses deux sports Golden Salmon, et Gloria Mundi. ..... Gloria Mundi a donné comme sports : Luminous, California Gold, Camberra, Coral Cup et Baby Gloria.

p18.  R. Marion Hatton.
G. de Ruiter, the Holland Polyantha specialist, has Torch, a climbing sport of Gloria Mundi, or one of that group, and it has been quite colourful with its small orange-scarlet flowers. Like all these sports, one has to remove the red reversions.

p74.  T. G. Stewart, Box Hill, Vic.  Polyantha Roses.
The first of this type to be introduced was the Orleans, a small foliaged variety, and all of these mildew and black spot badly, while others burn easily, and, as in the case of Goldlachs and Gloria Mundi, blue as the flower ages,
