Second to Double Delight, this is the most fragrant of the 200+ commercial varieties that I've grown.

Here in eastern North Carolina it grows in 12 foot arching canes with abundant flowers produced in the spring with intermittent blooms thereafter.

It will blackspot and defoliate completely without constant spraying.

A very nice rose and worth growing if you have the space.

It is fertile as both a seed and pollen parent.

It would be hard to say that any other rose is more fragrant - which combined with the colour and form make it very easy to forgive the not-so-great disease resistance, still worthy of a place in my garden. The fragrance is just magnificent.

I came across this informative blogpost about the real Mme. Isaac PĂ©reire, when I was doing a genealogy search (my husband's related). It was a such a fun read, I thought I'd share: http://the-history-girls.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-names-of-ladies-of-roses-by-louisa.html

Madame is quite hardy in southern Finland, her health is good and growth vigorous. Should be more widely available.
