'Pink Spiral'. An outstanding rose which has received the coveted Medal for the best individual bloom at the National Rose Societies' Autumn Show. The clear, sparkling, pink blooms have a high centre and retain their form for a considerable period when cut. The bloom is offset by the leathery green foliage of the plant.

Some Roses of Recent Introduction.
p73-6 Edgar M. Allen. 'Pink Spiral' probably wants dry weather, which it has not had this season.

p75-1 Maj.-Gen. R. F. B. Naylor. 'Pink Spiral. A good rose for anyone seeking a bedding rose which produces exhibition blooms. Free flowering and upright in habit, it carries its large highly pointed pink blooms on strong stems. Large deep green foliage.

p78-5 A. Norman. The next two roses I shall mention together as they are very similar, at least in colour. These are 'Pink Spiral' and 'Royalist'. Of the two I think the latter the better, for all through the season the plants have never failed to give perfect bloom, whereas 'Pink Spiral did not give of its best until September. With me, 'Royalist' is the better grower, and more generous with its blooms.

p80-1 G. D. Burch. 'Pink Spiral': an outstanding variety and one of my favourites. It makes a fairly vigorous plant, always producing freely blooms of exhibition size and good form.
Book  (1954)  Page(s) 14.

Harry H. Hazlewood. The New Roses of 1954. Pink Spiral HT. (McGredy, 1952). Extra long buds which open to semi-double blooms of a rich rose pink colour found in many other sorts. It is reported as doing very well in cooler climates and may improve here on older plants.
Book  (1954)  Page(s) 32.

N. P. Harvey. Irish Roses. 'Pink Spiral' is a much brighter pink [than 'Royalist'] with the typical high centre. It should be valuable for exhibition and is again an extra vigorous grower which should be given plenty of room.
Book  (1953)

p100. A. G. L. Hellyer. The Autumn Rose Show. Sam McGredy and Sons filled a large wall space with some most interesting flowers. Probably the best was 'Pink Spiral', which is well named as it is a real rose pink and the long, large flowers have a slightly spiralled shape. It is always risky to assess new Roses at a first meeting but I shall be surprised if this is not a winner.

p177. Samuel McGredy & Son advertisement. Our introductions for 1952. 'Pink Spiral' (HT). Very large deep china rose pink blooms.
Book  (1952)  Page(s) 74.

A. W. Jessep.  Some Observations on Roses Overseas.
...the best rose in the nurserymen's section went to a splendid bloom of Pink Spiral, which is not yet in commerce. Pink Spiral was produced and exhibited by Sam McGredy and Son, and will be catalogued as one of their novelties for 1952.
Book  (1952)  Page(s) 191.

Samuel McGredy & Son advertisement. Our Novelties of 1952. 'Pink Spiral' (HT). The enormous sparkling deep china rose pink blooms are unusually long and very high pointed. Their very perfection of form and colour simplicity should satisfy even the most discriminating exhibitor. The magnificent vitality of these huge plants, literally covered with cedar green foliage of immense size, is unsurpassed. A Rose which shows great promise for the future. Awarded Medal for best individual bloom at N.R.S. Autumn show, 1950, and Certificate of Merit at Glasgow Show, 1950.
