I'm puzzled by the USDA cold hardiness rating of this rose. It's listed as 7b. Peace, the rose from which it sported, is listed as 5b. Furthermore, Chicago is in zone 5. So how is it that this rose survived there long enough after the sport occurred for someone to notice? Or was turning flamingo pink just a sign it had ceased to be cold hardy and wanted to retire to Florida?

I don't understand it either. I've noticed quite a few being changed to 7. Some I grow in zone 6, and some I know someone in Chicago grows funnily enough. Example - I noticed Belinda's Dream was changed to 7 on here, so I got worried about the 3 I have. (own root) I asked someone that grows it in Chicago just fine. He said he never had a problem, and many places that sell it say zone 5. I look for other information now, before I go by the zone info here. High Country Roses has Chicago Peace listed as 6. I just ordered one, but I still would have if I were in zone 5, for the reason you mentioned. I would give it some extra mulch to be safe, but I would have tried with this one to be sure.

This rose is as difficult to grow for me as Peace itselves: Both are not happy and getting smaller every year.
Just one flower. Maybe I became duds, but maybe they're on the wrong rootstock...
Or it is as is written in a thread of 35 entrances started: Initial post 28 JUN 09 by John Moody and ended the 19th of may this year at the rose Peace.

rather more pink than i would have liked, i got this rose because it seemed like a more intensely colored version of peace. (i thought it would have more of the orange and deep yellow that i have seen in pictures.) but it is a medium pink, not too dark, so i don't get the itch to toss it out.

also, the FRAGRANCE alone more than makes up for the pinky color (i typically avoid pink roses. personal preference.) it is a perfumed, fruity sort of scent and it's wonderful. i'm not sure why some claim that CP smells just like peace. it doesn't. peace does not have the fruity notes and is more musky. (love them both, but they are definitely different.) i can't smell most roses, so scent is a big win with me.

the last bloom stayed lovely on the bush for at least a week. amazing!!
(i'll post pictures)

my CP rose is in its second season. It is a beautiful rose. The blooms are huge 5'' across. The coloring on mine is a little strange. As you will see from my pics. My rose is pink blend, but it also has a few petals that are yellow on half side and stripped on the other side. It has never done this before, it was fascinating to see. No bs on this plant, very aggressive grower. My favorite!!
