p8. E. F. Allen. Awards to New Rose Seedlings in Great Britain in 1965. Two other Gold Medals were awarded, both to three-year-old seedlings: 'City of Leeds'. ('Evelyn Fison' x ['Spartan' x 'Red Favorite']). This floribunda of Sam McGredy's is a very free flowering, very vigorous and tall growing rose with large clusters of salmon vermilion, scented flowers. it is a most attractive variety which I marked very highly, but it will require spray protection wherever rust occurs.

p34. E. B. Le Grice. Review of the Floribundas of 1965.
The only floribunda variety to receive a Gold Medal was 'City of Leeds'. This had even growth three feet and up, and the large semi-double rather loose pleasing flowers were carried on well spaced trusses. The growth was good and the flowers were free and continuous. My notes showed this had some blackspot and rust at times and the flowers faded in sunshine. Some perfume. The colour was soft orange salmon. (Raised by McGredy's).
