'Compassion'   Climber  Apricot pink  Remontant     P7   H3
The sweet  scent and pleasing colour of  'Compassion' have  made  a favourable impression on the rose world since my company introduced this rose in 1973; but it has another valuable feature of making  basal growths with more  freedom   than common  in  the class. The colour varies from light to salmon pink; the deeper the pink, the more apricot. It has abundant foliage, dark and glossy, and is a fairly vigorous grower. I raised it from 'White Cockade' x 'Prima Ballerina'.

E. F. Allen.  Awards To New Rose Seedlings In Great Britain In 1973
......which are sufficiently strongly scented to be considered for the Henry Edland Memorial Medal. I myself had no difficulty in listing ten such seedlings so it must be considered a vintage year for perfume.  The coveted award finally went to Jack Harkness's 'Compassion' ('White Cockade' x 'Prima Ballerina'), a repeat-flowering climber with attractive pale orange-salmon flowers in clusters and a very strong reliable scent. This had received a Trial Ground Certificate in 1972.

E. F. Allen, England.  R.N.R.S. Awards To New Rose Seedlings In 1972.
Compassion ('White Cockade' x 'Prima Ballerina'). A climber, by Jack Harkness, with scented flowers of a pink and orange blend. The side branches are perhaps too spreading for use as a pillar rose but this would be no disadvartage when trained on a trellis. It is too soon to judge how well it repeats in autumn. Trial Ground Certificate.
