'Dame Edith Helen'. The colour is a pure glowing pink, a self colour throughout that changes hardly at all. The bloom, which is full and of perfect spiral form, opens well in all weathers. it seems to grow particularly well around Perth and districts and we recommend very light pruning.

Mr. E. Cummings, W.A.  Well Tried Varieties For Small Areas
Dame Edith Helen: While some may wonder at the inclusion of this exhibition variety, I do so because it has always done excellently with me, and it does give an abundance of blooms during the summer that hold well when most others blow very quickly.
Book  (1943)  Page(s) 25.

Mr. H. R. Darlington.  Crimson Roses.
The habit of the plants should be fairly symmetrical and bushy, avoiding, on the one hand, a too rigidly upright habit such as we find in Dame Edith Helen and McGredy's Yellow,
Book  (1942)  Page(s) 135.

Although ‘Dame Edith Helen’ opens full, is big, pink and striking, still she is not near the top of our list because to us her habit of growth is incongruous. Somehow we feel such a buxom, gay-nineties-Chorus-girl type of rose just shouldn’t bloom on the tip top of a single, leggy, thorny stalk.
