I noticed my Old Fragrance--just planted in 2006--seems to be a slightly different shade of pink than the others pictured.  I found it on the Tantau web site, and it is definitely a deeper shade than mine.  Also, he said it only got about 2.5 feet tall.  Mine got at least 6 feet this first year.  I had to move it to the back of the garden. Fragrance was nice rose smell, but not overwhelming at all, as described by the breeder.  Is it possible the Hortico company sent me the wrong rose?  How often does that happen?  Is there any way to tell..  Last year another company sent me a smoky red rose instead of Full Sail and I had to get it replaced.  Now I'm  wondering if it is too late to get  a real Old Fragrance to replace the rose I have (which looks like Perfume Delight).

Yes !!! It is quite possible that Hortico could have sent you the wrong rose. They have done this to me on more than one occassion. I keep saying I will not order from them anymore since they never have all of the roses they claim to have for sale and the last 2 years what I did recieve of my order had some sort of black fungus on most of the canes. Hortico has certainly gone down hill.

It does sound like you have the wrong rose. Hortico is notorious for sending mis-labeled roses. They have done it to me several times as well. If your rose is not behaving like it should and does not look and smell like a proper Duftrausch then that is what has probably happened to you as well. My advice is to try and purchase your roses from a more reliable vendor even if they cost a few dollars more. You will be more likely to get the correct rose and not to mention one that is disease free and of the correct grade and a company that will stand behind what they sell.

I agree, it is very probable that they sent you the wrong rose. I ordered Duftrausch through Hortico, even though I read that they often send a mislabeled rose, and they didn't disappoint me in that regard. But I was very disappointed to have some other rose blooming in its place. It is not at all like Duftrausch at all and I sent them pictures showing the differences, but they did nothing to reimburse me or even try to replace it with something else. I stopped ordering from them three years ago. If they didn't have that rose available, and wanted to send something in its place, the very least they could do is send a rose with a name! I WOULD like to know what it is that is growing in my garden! So, I have no idea what I ended up with, and although it is a prolific bloomer and does has some fragrance to it, I still have no idea what it is. It reminds of "Our Lady of Guadalupe" but the blooms are more cupped in shape. It does have some fragrance, but it is not Duftrausch! I wish they would get their stuff together.

They have had every opportunity to "get their act toghether" but it appears they just don't care to. That is why I don't order from them any more. They ripped me off for the last time and I was tired of being sent crap quality and disease ridden plants and mis-labeled plants as well. They wouldn't make good on many many roses that fit those categories, so, no more Hortico for me.
