'Climbing General MacArthur' late spring, Perth, Western Australia. A very beautiful and fragrant rose that is deeper in colour than this photo suggests. Thanks to Patricia Routley for this rose and to Mrs. Sheila Gravett, from whose garden Patricia collected it. Budded onto Fortuniana by Peter Ellis.

It can be quite pink. Heritage Roses in Australia Collection, Ruston's Roses, South Australia, zone 9b. In a cold wet spring.

Gloriously fragrant - 'Climbing General MacArthur' late spring, Perth, Western Australia. The red rose in the background is its offspring, the beautifully fragrant, almost thornless 'Marie Nabonnand' (sold as "Beales' Monsieur Tillier" etc and also seen as Noella Nabonnand in some nurseries and gardens.) Thanks to Patricia Routley for this rose and to Mrs. Sheila Gravett, from whose garden Patricia collected it. Budded onto Fortuniana by Peter Ellis.

'Climbing General MacArthur' late spring, Perth, Western Australia. As others have noted, it is difficult to convey the true colour in photos - the rose looks darker to the eye than it does to the camera! (The white climbing rose with pink-edged petals is 'Clg Princesse de Monaco' which likes to festoon itself with these fat blooms in a very extravagant fashion.) The smaller red blooms belong to 'Marie Nabonnand' - first introduced as 'Philippe Pétain' - an offspring of 'Clg General MacArthur'. Like its parent, it is exquisitely fragrant. Thanks to Patricia Routley for this rose and to Mrs. Sheila Gravett, from whose garden Patricia collected it. Budded onto Fortuniana by Peter Ellis.

MAY 9TH 2016/ROMANIA this rose is one of the most beautiful colors i've ever seen,it's unique, but the photos just don't do it justice;it's much deeper, darker,i would call it cyclamen,i'll try filming it to see if i can capture the color better

'Climbing General MacArthur' late spring, Perth, Western Australia, looking paler in the photo than it does to the eye. I love the characteristic way the blooms of this rose open. The outer petals flip from concave to convex in a most decisive way, so at this stage, we see the outer petals curving back, the central cup of petals still upstanding - a 'cup and saucer' effect. Thanks to Patricia Routley for this rose and to Mrs. Sheila Gravett, who knew the names of her roses and from whose garden Patricia collected it. Budded onto Fortuniana by Peter Ellis.
