Bred by Hugh Dickson (c.1877 -1922) (United Kingdom, before 1921). Bred by Alexander Dickson II (1857-1949) (United Kingdom, before 1921).
Introduced in France by Grandes Roseraies du Val de la Loire in 1921 as 'Earl Haig'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1922 as 'Earl Haig'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Crimson to vermilion, brown flecks.  Strong fragrance.  Very large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary bloom form.  Sparse, blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Bushy, upright.  Dark green foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Hardy.
