Origin:
Bred by E. Gurney Hill Co. (United States, before 1924).
Introduced in France by Grandes Roseraies du Val de la Loire in 1925 as 'Royal Red'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1926 as 'Royal Red'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Crimson - scarlet, darker shading.  Moderate, damask fragrance.  Very large, very double, borne mostly solitary bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Large, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Dense, few or no prickles/thorns.  Large, dense, leathery foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Notes:

Does not expand well in spring, can burn in sun.
