His Majesty is very much over-praised. Now and then one obtains a fine flower, but in an amateur's garden it would be a very poor thing, and not a patch upon some of the good old Hybrid Perpetuals like Comte de Raimbaud.

ROSE HIS MAJESTY (SA MAJESTE)
HYBRIDE DE THÉ.
La nouveauté représentée par la plan clie coloriée ci-jointe, a été obtenne et mise au commerce cette année, par Messieurs Samuel Mc Gredy et fils, rosiéristes, à Portadown (Irlande). C'est un type tout particulier par son coloris et sa forme dans la série des hybrides de thé. L'arbuste est d'une grande croissance, sans cependant être sarmenteux, les fleurs bien droites sont grandes, de bonne substance, ce qui rendra la varietè excellente pour les expositions. Son coloris ayant quelque resemblance avec celui de Duchess of Bedford, est d'un beau cramoisi foncé, ombé de vermillon noirâtre. On l'appelle volontiers la Schnée Konigin — Reine des Neiges rouge, à cause de sa ressemblance avec cette dernière, comme forme et mode de végétation. His Majesty, qui a été récompensée d'une médaille d'or à la Société Nazionale des Rosiéristes anglais, exhale un parfum des plus suaves. C'est une plante très recommandable, d'après les nombreux amateurs qui ent été à même de la juger.

ROSE HIS MAJESTY HYBRID TEA. The novelty represented by the attached colored clie plan was obtained and marketed this year by Messrs Samuel Mc Gredy and sons, rose growers, in Portadown (Ireland). It is a very particular type by its color and its shape in the series of tea hybrids. The shrub is of great growth, without being sarmentous, the straight flowers are large, of good substance, which will make the variety excellent for exhibitions. Its color, having some resemblance to that of Duchess of Bedford, is of a beautiful dark crimson, shade of blackish vermilion. It is readily called the Schnea Konigin - Red Snow Queen, because of its resemblance to the latter, as form and mode of vegetation. His Majesty, who was awarded a gold medal at the Nazionale Society of English Rose Gardeners, exudes a very sweet scent. It is a very recommendable plant, according to the many amateurs who have been able to judge it.
