Bred by M.S. Viraraghavan (India, before 1981).
Introduced in India by KSG Sons/KSG's Roses in 1981 as 'Priyatama'.

Hybrid Tea.  

Pink, lighter reverse, deep pink flecks.  up to 35 petals.  Full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, exhibition bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Ovoid buds.  

Bushy.  Glossy, wrinkled (rugose) foliage.  

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  

This rose too has but an Indian name. This is one of Viru’s favorites from his stable of roses, and you will understand why. ‘Priyatama’ means ‘beloved’ in Sanskrit, and he has named it for Girija. This is one of his breed of ‘hand painted’ roses – the elegant buds open to shapely high centered flowers, a demure and lovely pink and white in cool weather, changing to warm and passionate ruby red edged white in summer.
