'Lest We Forget' (Mattzac). 'Lest We Forget' is a vibrant new rose for you to have as your own special tribute to a cherished loved one - perhaps husband, father, son, dear friend or comrade - who gave their life in the service of our country. A very close and personal way of remembrance. A truly lovely floribunda bearing dense multiple clusters of opulent blooms that will bring colour and beauty to your garden and grace your home with its elegant blooms. The medium compact bush, approximately 80cm tall, flowers repeatedly through late spring to autumn and is ideal as a low hedge or border, bedding rose or for the patio. The plants are certified to be free of known virus, which is symbolised by the MVT (Matthews Virus Free Tested) logo on the label. The rich, red poppy shaped blooms are ideal for floral work and last in a vase for up to two weeks. An entirely new and unique rose, it is bred by Bob Matthews, Wanganui. With the flush flowering habit of its seed parent, 'Sexy Rexy', improved to produce steady continuous flushes of flowers, the influence is attributed to the pollen parent, 'Precious Platinum'. When picked as a seedling on the bench, it was nicknamed' Anzac' because of its resemblance to a poppy, and the Matthews family traditional association with this important remembrance day. The rose subsequently proved itself and was named 'Lest We Forget'. The promotion concept in conjunction with the NZRSA was developed to enable the initial sale of the rose to become a household name and provide a valuable contribution to the community, with every purchase going towards several NZRSA projects, including the Life Education Trust which assists the well-being of our children and youth, and the preservation of our history in establishing a Park of Remembrance. Orders only through the NZRSA. Order form available at your local RSA or your local Rose Society.
