Introduced in France by Jean Touvais in 1858 as 'Triomphe d'Alençon'.
Introduced in Australia by Joseph Harris, South Yarra Nurseries in 1865 as 'Triomphe d'Alençon'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Red.  Strong fragrance.  Large, very full (41+ petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Sangerhausen listed 'Duc d'Alençon' in 1936. -see.
'Triomphe d'Alençon' in gardens and in commerce is not "vivid red" and seems to be 'Baronne Prévost'.
