Another file which gives me the impression that two different roses have been photographed; one with many more petals than the other.

There seem to be two roses in commerce as Zigeunerknabe:
One with shiny leafs and of the other-one the leafs aren't shiny.

Classifying Zigeunerknabe as a Bourbon or even a Hybrid Bourbon is not very helpful for growers. The foliage, habit, scent and bloom cycle is much closer to that of Russelliana. I believe it is better thought of as a Hybrid Multiflora of the early type, like Russelliana, de la Grifferaie, and Seven Sisters.

Lambert himself calls 'Zigeunerknabe' a hybrid bourbon in his catalogue. He probably received it from Geschwind as such. Is there a connection to 'Zigeunerblut'?
