I bought Plaisanterie from a nursery which was marketing it under the name "Pleasant Valley" in November 2002, even though the rose had been registered with the IRAR with the exhibition name of PLAISANTERIE and the registered name of 'Lentrimera.' The rose is no longer sold under the name "Pleasant Valley."

Can you tell me how big Plaisanterie gets? From the description here, I would expect around 5' x 6', but some of he pictures here make it look like it gets quite a bit larger. Any guidance you can provide based on your experience would be a great help. If it's a beast, how big a beast is it??

Hi, Jeff. It's huge to ginormous, maybe 7 x 10 feet of prickly terror at about 5 years of age. But, oh, what an easy rose to grow. It can take the place in the landscape of the myoporum and have prettier flowers, too. And while I suppose it could be pruned and trained, I wouldn't want to work with it. It's a naturally bushy thing, and training would destroy its natural character IMO.
