"Arcata Pink Globe" rose Reviews & Comments

Has anyone considered 'Jean Lafitte' as a possible identity for this rose? It was found in two locations in CA which are several hundred miles apart, so it likely is not a chance seedling.

What I can see from Jean Lafitte photos, it looks more like Tolstoi (aka similar to Constance Spry or mm Caroline Testout size-shape wise), just paler pink/peach. Also habit seems to be similar, large flexible canes, and then the rather short blooming laterals.

How tall and wide does this rose grow?

Huge. There is a reason that this rose is also called "Moser House Shed Rose". As I recall, it literally covered a shed.
I moved mine to the back of the lot, to cover a spot where someone might otherwise might walk into my yard. I think of it as a cold climate living fence, rather like 'Mermaid' in the warmer zones. About 15' x 15' at maturity and then it roots where the canes touch the ground.

This rose is very hardy and rampant. It is surely not a noisette, and it does root where the thorny canes touch down. It would make a very good protective fence in a cold climate, just like Mermaid does in warm zones. It needs no protection to at least Zone 5a.

Keep in mind that this is an extremely vigorous rose. On my sandy loam it roots wherever touches the ground. If you take your eye off of it for too long, you can have a thorny problem on your hands. But it is lovely and fragrant, nonetheless.
