New Roses.  Isabel de Ortiz HT. (R. Kordes) A very well-shaped large flower of 60 petals in a very deep pink shade with a silvery reverse to the petals. Very free flowering, with strong, dark green, healthy foliage. No trouble of the die-back type occurred at any time during the growing season, but when the plants were lifted for transplanting, some stems did go off. However, even in plants where all stems died, they came again from the base when left alone. It should at all times be remembered that "die-back" is not a disease; it is merely a sign of malnutrition, in this case with a plant of very hollow pithy wood, the plant has difficulty in storing enough starch to see it over the transplanting period, and if you can get it quickly rooted again there is no bother. Only a small percentage of plants were in trouble, but if you can be patient, losses would not be great. It is a lovely variety with a very substantial flower suitable for all purposes. ('Mme. A. Meilland' x 'Perfecta').
