Bred by Eugène Verdier fils aîne (France, 1864).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1873 as 'John Keynes'.

Bloom:
Scarlet, brown shading.  Strong fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.
