Class:
Hybrid Wichurana, Rambler.
Bloom:
Cherry-red, vermilion shading, ages to blush . Strong fragrance. Average diameter 1.75". Small to medium, double (17-25 petals), in large clusters, open bloom form. Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.
Habit:
Climbing. Small foliage. Height of 12' to 20' (365 to 610 cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Very hardy. very vigorous.
Notes:
Some differences of opinion about Parentage.
Member Palustris reports elsewhere that: 'Lady Gay' has slightly larger flowers than 'Dorothy Perkins' or 'Minnehaha'. 'Lady Gay' outer petals are almost white. 'Lady Gay' pedicel has sparse and minute bristles. 'Lady Gay' new foliage is never bronze.
