Any of you who have Sunstruck:  how would it compare to Just Joey and/or Brandy, both of which I have and love!  Janie B. in Oceanside, CA

It would be appropriate to say that it is like an improved version of Brandy. I cant think of any roses comparable to Just Joey due to it's bloom size, age, color and intense scent.

However, Sunstruck is a healthier plant since Brandy is prone to bs and Just Joey is prone to mildew. It is also relatively hardier than either of the other 2 cultivars.

I agree as well. My second year bush is starting the spring out with some very beautifully formed and colorful blooms with lots of petal substance so I would think they will last a long time for cutting. I just wish it had more fragrance than it does.  It has a little, but could definitely use more. I think these blooms could be exhibited very easily.
UPDATE: The last couple of years this has fallen down and is becoming disappointing. It starts to struggle and defoliates just as it gets into the heat of summer and it doesn't seem to recover until very late in the year so it hardly ends up blooming at all. If it doesn't improve, I will remove it this year.
UPDATE 6/2009-Well, I was so close to shovel pruning this bush a couple of times, but the Fall of 2008 and now Spring of 2009 I am very glad that I didn't. The blooms on my now four year old bush are stunning and plentiful. They are very colorful and large and the peacock veining on the underside is wonderful. The bush itself has "grown up" I guess. It just took its' sweet time to get established. Last year was the first year it didn't fall apart and defoliate and almost quit blooming after Spring. It bloomed and grew continuousy throughout the Summer and Fall. This Spring 2009 it is glorious and healthy and blooming to beat the bands. It is already a good 5' tall and the foliage is large, luscious, and plentiful. I am glad that I still have this rose!! It was just a super slow starter I guess. NOTE: I have found three 10" canes today with a single large bloom at the end that is white with a pink reverse and still has the peacock pattern veining through the pink color on the reverse. Everything about the stem and bloom is identical to the beautiful golden blooms except these three are a different color. I am not sure if these are sports or reversions or what, but they are super gorgeous and I am going to try and cultivate them to see if I can get a whole bush of just the white colored flowers. They are gorgeous to look at!! Wish me luck, this is going to be interesting indeed.

I agree with Linda. Slow to start but once it starts it is continuous big pretty blooms all season long. A very nice garden rose and I would recommend it for anyone.
