Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1882 as 'Edouard Pynaert'.

Red, carmine-red outer petals.  Currant-red.  Large, double (17-25 petals), globular bloom form.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, lax.

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Hardy.
