The matter is similar with Tea roses. Originally they were of significance only for southern countries. But by crossing with Chinas and Bourbons varieties finally appeared which had a certain hardiness and which survived winter with us Nordmans under a dry covering. Sorts such as Papa Gontier, 1882, which was for long years the red rose which was sent most to us in winter from the Riviera
