Origin:
Bred by Yoshio Kubota (Japan, circa 1957).
Introduced in United Kingdom by Fisk's Clematis Nursery in 1971 as 'Haku'.
Class:
Early Large Flowered.  
Bloom:
Violet.  7 to 8 petals.  Average diameter 7".  Single, curved edge bloom form.  Late spring to early summer, late summer.  
Habit:

Height: 6' to 8' (185 to 245cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Sheltered.  It blooms on the previous year's growth, so resist the urge to prune it in early spring.
