I grow this collected from an old site in Julian, California. I have also found this unknown as old plant in the Galt Pioneer Cemetery, near Galt, California, where it is known as "The Mormon Rose." Local lore says it was planted at the time one of the Mormon Battalions came through the region before statehood.
