March picture of Sandy Hook, showing very thornless & smooth stems after the most brutal zone 5a winter. To have winter hardiness, great scent, and being thornless is hard to beat.

Early spring pic. of Sandy Hook, showing its thornless branches, with healthy leaves. Black spot resistant is good if dug deep for fast drainage in my heavy rain climate with a 5 feet trench post. Never see mildew nor rust. Pretty bush with compact round & vase shape.

Yves' seedling is the smallest dark-pink bloom. There are so many blooms on Yves's seedling that I don't mind its being small. Picture taken Nov. 11, after many frosts.

Yves' seedlings are healthy in my limestone soil and pH 9 hard-well-water. But when I brought the pH down with peatmoss or sulfur, they get black spots. All seedlings are healthy in well-drained potting soil, 100% thornless, fast repeat & many blooms. They are compact & upright, great for container. The scent is strong & fantastic.
