Origin:
Bred by Paul Barden (United States, 2007).
Class:
Shrub.
Bloom:
A deep black-red, not unlike 'Black Jade' at its best..  Opinions vary fragrance.  Average diameter 3".  Medium, semi-double (9-16 petals), cluster-flowered, cupped-to-flat, spiral centers bloom form.  Moderate, continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.  Small buds.
Habit:
Compact, rounded.  Large, semi-glossy, dark green, edged purple-red foliage.
Growing:
Very hardy.  very vigorous.
Breeder's notes:
Currently under evaluation for disease immunity and garden worthiness. It looks very promising. The bloom color is quite remarkable. Early indications suggest that this seedling has more of the shrubby growth habit of its seed parent, which is a good thing. I don't know why more people don't grow 'Roundelay'. Its one of only a handful of Hybrid Teas that do not require spraying in my climate to stay healthy.
