Bred by Tim Hermann Kordes (Germany, 1998).
Introduced in Germany by W. Kordes' Söhne (Retail) in 2008 as 'Sommersonne'.
Introduced in United States by Newflora™ LLC in 2014 as 'Summer Sun'.
Class:
Floribunda, Shrub.  
Bloom:
Apricot - pink, apricot reverse..  Moderate fragrance.  50 to 60 petals.  Average diameter 3.25".  Medium to large, very full (41+ petals), borne mostly solitary, cluster-flowered, in small clusters, cupped-to-flat bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Pointed, ovoid buds.  
Habit:
Medium, bushy, upright.  Large, semi-glossy, medium green, dense, leathery foliage.  7 leaflets.  

Height: 35" to 43" (90 to 110cm).  Width: up to 20" (up to 50cm).
Growing:
Can be used for cut flower or garden.  Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant, blackspot resistant.

The new variety of rose plant of the present invention originated from a controlled crossing in a breeding program of two distinct parents during the summer of 1998. The crossing was between an unnamed seedling and another unnamed seedling.
