Oh my gosh, this is a magnificent rose, simply said, no other adjective can describe it. Never stops blooming, heavy heavy delicious fragrance and is set on beautiful stems. The blooms sometimes are sooo huge a sturdy stem cannot hold them. It is tall and regal looking, like nothing will stop it from doing its duty of producing one bloom after another. Seems resistant to everything. One of my plants does get gangly, only because it is crowded, going to move it this spring. This one needs to be on its own with lots of space and you will, have mountains of blooms. Great breeding, the color is to die for, looks like a dark pink peony. Denver Colorado

This rose is one of the two I lost over the winter, with several weeks of temperatures ranging slightly below zero F at night and around 15 F in the daytime. I don't protect my roses (too many to deal with), and the two I lost both were planted with the bud union slightly above ground level. A new Grande Dame will be planted soon, with the bud union under ground. I'd be interested to hear what other people in northern climes have experienced with this rose's cold tolerance.

Dianne, I LOVE when I get on here and find some variety I never thought to look up and see you as commenting...............my guess is that this is going to be another "April in Paris" so to speak........................and I think, as I type this, we just shared some weird weather? Two days ago it was 27 in Columbus suburbs. Tomorrow/today it is going to be 93. Didn't Boise JUST go through this? No wonder 1/2 have blind shoots and 4 haven't leafed out and in general they look "good and optimistic but a little confused and basically unwary"................
