Carmine-pink. Mild fragrance. 40 to 80 petals. Average diameter 4". Medium to large, very full (41+ petals), borne mostly solitary, cupped-to-flat, globular, quartered bloom form. Prolific, continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season. Leafy sepals, pointed buds.
Habit:
Medium, bushy, few or no prickles/thorns, rounded, well-branched. Large, matte, medium green, maroon highlights foliage. 3 to 5 leaflets.
Growing:
Can be used for beds and borders, garden, landscape or shrub. Vigorous. drought resistant. flowers drop off cleanly. heat tolerant. produces decorative hips. Disease susceptibility: disease resistant, blackspot resistant. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
Breeder's notes:
I am very excited about this seedling as I love to see Lynnie's (almost) thornless nature carried over onto the Buck roses.
The goals of this cross were to create seedlings that are well-branched and have a plant structure which is more mounded. It is unfortunate that Country Music did not provide the stippling or freckling to the bloom but it was extremely unlikely that would have shown through in this generation. This seedling is almost as free-blooming as Lynnie - rebloom is as fast but the blooms are borne solitary and I have yet to see a cluster.
There is a remote possibility that the seed parent is Country Doctor. A cross between Country Doctor and Lynnie was accomplished the same year which produced a hip though no germinations were recorded from that cross. There may have been a bag/label mix up. There are some characteristics from Country Doctor - size and bloom shape - that would suggest that this is possible.
