How do I know whether I have the Tantau or the Kordes rose? This is very confusing.

These two roses are not totally identical when placed side by side. The Kordes rose is the more vigorous of the two and is very prone to black spot in the PNW but prefers the cooler climate andso grows better than in a very warm one. The flowers are large and have a faint rose scent. The blue colour is stronger in full sun. The Tantau rose has by far the best fragrance and it is very strong. It too has large flowers but they do tend to go pinker in the full sun. Hope this helps.

Variation in fragrance, color, and Blackspot might be due to growing conditions? How about leaves and thorns, any difference there? I'm trying to find Kordes' Blue Girl.

I grew Blue Moon many years ago, and it had thick stems, strong (even gigantic) canes and huge, very fragrant blooms. I just received a plant from Pickering, so I hope it is the same rose as in the past. - Alss, out of all the great roses from Pickering, only Blue Moon bit the dust. Guess I will have to try again next year.

Hi,
Today a received notice that there was a message concerning cuttings for Blue Moon though I did not actually receive the message.
When I looked at the cuttings, under Blue Moon directly, I saw that I am listed as both having and wanting cuttings.
I don't own the plant nor do I want cuttings at this time. I believe it was a computer error I made due to my inexperience with the cutting exchange format.
There, could you please remove my have/want cuttings on the Blue Moon cutting site. I would have removed it myself but didn't know how to and tried but couldn't.
Thanks,
Jim Provenzano

Updating you plant cuttings list is easy.

1. Click the item "Cutting Exchange" found in the green navigation menu on the left of most every page.
2. Click the My Cuttings tab.
3. Scroll down to the plant in question and click the REMOVE button.

That should do it. Let us know if you need further assistance and thank you for your support of HMF.

My friends had this beautifull climbing rose back in the 70's. I always admired it's gorgeouse flowers and scent. I would really like this rose in my garden but the HMF website is playing up and giving me addresses of suppliers around the world instead of locally. Not a great start for my first time on this site.

Welcome to HMF.

I've just checked the BUY FROM TAB and there are several nurseries in the United Kingdom which list this rose as available in their inventories. Since there are so many nurseries listed on HMF, it is necessary for the nursery to keep their inventory lists up-to-date.

When you click the BUY FROM tab on a rose page, you will see the sponsoring nurseries listed first, then at the bottom of the page there is a button you may click to find other nurseries which may carry the rose.

Smiles,
Lyn

Thank you Lyn.
It's just that I filled the location tabs and expected to be given nurseries in the United Kingdom first.
I am now waiting for two companies to reply to my enquiry. One doesn't permit orders from it's website, only email.... Very strange.

Best regards.... Mongrel1999. I'm a doggy person as well as a gardener. :)
