Bred by Philippe-André de Vilmorin (1770-1862) (France, 1823).
Discovered by Unknown (1789).
Introduced in United Kingdom by Henry Shailer in before 1805 as 'Vilmorin'.
Introduced in Australia by Northampton Nurseries in 1861 as 'Blush Moss'.
Class:
Centifolia, Moss.  
Bloom:
Blush or light pink, darker center.  Average diameter 2".  Large, full (26-40 petals), cupped-to-flat bloom form.  Mossed buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, compact.  Dense foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
It is not certain that Andrews was describing 'Blush Moss' with his "Pale-flowered variety", but the timing could fit.

['Vilmorin' was possibly sold by Prévost as a centifolia ca. 1840.]
