Introduced in United States by Jackson & Perkins Co. (Newark, NY) in 1966 as 'Bob Hope'.
Introduced by Unknown (Australia) in 1968 as 'Bob Hope'.

Hybrid Tea.  

Scarlet.  Strong, rose, tea fragrance.  35 to 40 petals.  Average diameter 6".  Very large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, high-centered, urn-shaped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Large buds.  

Medium, armed with thorns / prickles, upright.  Large, dark green, leathery foliage.  

Height: 5½' (165cm).  

USDA zone 7b and warmer.  Can be used for beds and borders, cut flower or garden.  Vigorous.  heat tolerant.  rain tolerant.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .
