Breeder's notes:
We came to know Manju and Shashi Ruia only through a common passion for roses. Shashi has a deep love of gardening and roses in particular and has collected a formidable collection in his property in Kodaikanal. After he came to know us, he insisted on getting all our roses available with KSG Roses Bangalore. We wanted to name a rose for his wife Manju who is a lovely charming affectionate person. We found this seedling to have lovely shades of brownish orange, very well formed like a Hybrid Tea, and continuous blooming on a manageable shrub.

At the same time we wanted to honour our friendship with Dr Malcolm Manners who teaches in Florida Southern College in Lakeland Florida. Though a specialist in citrus, roses are his hobby, and like Shashi and Manju, has collected a very large number of our bred roses in his college garden. So we wanted to name this rose which he had liked very much for him.

So, in India, this hybrid gigantea shrub is called ‘The Manju Rose’ and in the USA and other countries in the West and in Japan etc it is called ‘Dr. Malcolm Manners’
