Notes:
The yellow Passionflower, called Maracock by American Natives, was discovered in 1609 by Giacomo Bosio. It appeared in Parkinson's "Paradisi in sole Paradisus terrestris" (1629) as 'Virginian climber' or 'Jesuites Maracoc'. John Tradescant the Younger named it 'Amaracock' or 'Clematis Virginiana' in his catalogue of 1656.
Passiflora edulis (Passion fruit) is not regarded as a Clematis in modern botany.)
The variety 'Hederacea' or 'Flore Hedera' is the Canadian Moonseed (Menispermum canadense)
