It is a very special place. When the roses were first planted, kangaroos would come and feed on them and they didn't get a chance to grow any higher than knee-height for about four years. It didn't seem to do the roses any harm in the long term - they have developed into large, healthy plants since the kangaroos were fenced out. A team of volunteers gather each Thursday to remove the spent blooms in the rose garden and that gentle regular trimming seems to be a very good way to manage the Teas. The new foliage and blooms just keep coming. Perhaps you will have a chance to visit some day?
