I believe this is R. virginiana. I had recieved it from Richmond, Virginia from a hybridzer friend. He said that this plant was growing in the dirt that held up a telephone post. It spreads through runners, but hasn't been envasive in my garden for the past year. It's making a rather nice and romantic looking thicket. Very disease resistant, but it only blooms once. But the plant is nice to have if you want to stick something in a dark corner.

I think this may be the Swamp Rose, and if anyone could verify it for me, I would be very much pleased.

I am more convinced that this may be the Swamp Rose, Rosa palustris, more then ever. The stipules, foilage, fruit match more or less. Although this does look sort of like R. carolina as well... All I can conclude right now that this maybe R. palustris, but may slightly have a chance of being R. carolina.
