I love everything about this rose but what impresses me most is its ability to survive every attempt to get rid of it. When we bought the house two years ago the front yard was completely overgrown and we cleared it radically, uprooting everything (a fatal six months before I fell in love with roses). Roots of these Rugosas must have survived under the pavement flags where we couldn't get at them. Good for us! They started growing back from the edge of the pavement towards our new field maple hedge which is now lined by ever more Rugosas. Of course, these days I'd rather have a Rugosa hedge right away, but I guess we have the second best thing ...
