Débutante  rose photo courtesy of member Palustris

Debutante is easily confused with other light pink ramblers but one defining characteristic is the profusion of glandular bristles on the pedicels.

The rose in my photos was purchased directly from Mr. Walsh along with ‘Ghislaine de Féligonde’ and ‘Silver Moon’ by a family in Barnstable, MA. Mr. Walsh’s nursery at Woods Hole was only 50 km. from this house where these roses still grow. There are photos of the three little girls of the family (now all deceased) in front of the rose in 1926 when they were all quite young, but the rose is already maturing.
