(1 of 3) Rosa oxyodon Boiss. 1872 is endemic to the Caucasus Mtns. between the Black Sea and Caspian Sea at the continental boundary of Europe and Asia. The botanist Pierre Boissier gave it a Greek name from "oxy" meaning sharp and "odon" meaning teeth as these leaflets clearly show. My plant was seedgrown from the U.C Berkeley Botanic Garden in 1987. Photograph taken May 1, 2019 at "Rose Woods".
