We purchased our first house in the summer of 2007. I couldn't wait for Spring 2008 to arrive to start puchasing some roses. I was fortunate enough to have multiple beds already around the property. Some are sunny, some partly sun, some shady. All have been added to or changed in some way, mostly with the addition of roses and a variety of perennials. I need a pick axe and a shovel to dig a hole, which turns into a major undertaking. The rocks provide good well drained soil but it's a bear to plant anything in this yard. As a result I've concentrated on merely adding to or revamping existing areas. I have to expand into uncultivated areas. My mind is there but my back is not!
