Bouquet picked on July 20, at 77% humidity, with Lady of Shalott (top), Munstead Wood (dark red), CPM (orange), Dee-lish (dark pink), Poseidon (blue).

Light yellow is Tchaikovsky. Light pinks are Duchess de Rohan & Beige is Betty White (lasts longest in the vase), reddish purple is Wise Portia. Duchess has the best scent among my 100+ own-root varieties.

Deep orange is Versigny, red is Firefighter, white is Bolero, baby-pink is Sonia Rykiel. These are own-roots that I bought AGAIN, after they died in zone 5a winter with tons of freezing rain. I dug down past 2.5 feet for drainage this time. If a 5-gallon bucket can't drain fast enough, they'll die through winter's freezing & acidic rain.

Evelyn (upper pink) is my favorite cut-bloom. Sonia Rykiel (lower pink cup) is another favorite for cut-blooms, smells even better than Evelyn. Crown Princess Mag (orange) is another favorite for the vase, since I get so many blooms.

Sulfate of potash caused an explosion of blooms in cluster, but short-neck, so I put them in a shallow-bowl. The middle dark-red is W.S. 2000, the reddish purple are Wise Portia (blooms well in less than 5 hrs. of sun), orange are Christopher Marlowe, and peachy-pink are Evelyn.

Golden Celbratiion is my favorite for the vase, along with Sonia Rykiel (pink), Evelyn and W.S. 2000 (red). All except for W.S. 2000 bloom well as own-roots in alkaline soil. W.S. 2000 needs tons of acidic rain to bloom well.

Right most pink is Radio Times (sweet damask), Light blue are Poseidon (best picked before it rains, since blooms turn ugly brown when wet). Poseidon actually looks better as crispy-fried blue in high heat, than ugly brown-petals with rain.

Peonies bloom at the same time as Austin roses in my zone 5a garden.
